Mr. Kris Senanu
Mr. Kris Senanu has over 20 years’ experience in the ICT and telecommunications industry. He has earned Pan-African recognition in his articulation of issues and provision of strategic insight on Africa’s Technology Agenda. His impact on the ICT industry in the EA region can be traced through his contribution to the growth of Access Kenya (Now Internet Solutions) from an indigenous Internet Service Provider to its listing at the NSE growing into an integrated Communications Solutions provider and subsequent acquisition by the Dimension Data Group.
He has held various leadership roles in Product and Business Development, Sales Marketing and later served as the Group Deputy CEO. Kris has develop a skill in driving tenacious commitment for revenue and market-share growth which is well captured in his new role as MD, Enterprise Division at Telkom Kenya Limited.
He sits on USIU board chairing the finance and development committees, chair, KENIC- the institution in charge of Kenya’s domain Space and Blackrock Capital an Angel investment and advisory firm for start-ups and SMEs.
Dr. Lydia Muriuki, PhD, OGW
Council, Vice Chair
Dr. Lydia Muriuki is an accomplished administrator, with over 28 years' experience in Strategic Leadership, Public Administration and Security Management. She is also a Certified Professional Mediator by the Mediation Training Institute, International. She is the Director of Administration in the State Department of Infrastructure, a position she has held since January 2017. In this position, she is the Principal Deputy to the Principal Secretary and overall Head of Administration.
Previously, she served as Secretary/Head of the Department of Social Development in the Ministry of East African Community, Labour and Social Protection. She has served in various boards including: Chair, Kenya Institute of Highways, Building & Technology (KIHBT), Member, Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) and Chair, Multi-scope Foundation, Nairobi, Kenya. She is a Full Member of the Kenya Institute of Management, Member of Lion’s Club (Kisii) and Associate Director at Institute of Directors. Due to her service, she has been awarded the presidential award of Moran of the Order of the Grand Warrior, (OGW).
Mr. Muriithi Ndegwa, OGW,HSC
Mr. Muriithi Ndegwa joined the Institute on January 1, 2017 and effectively takes over as Executive Director/CEO from March 1, 2017. He has extensive leadership and marketing experience having been the Managing Director, the Kenya Tourism Board for over six years and East African Cables (Tz) Limited for over three years. Previously, he has worked as Marketing Development Manager at Magadi Soda Co. Ltd, Marketing Manager at Firestone East Africa, and Head of Marketing and Public Affairs Department at Kenya Post Office Savings Bank. In the immediate past, he has also been a lecturer at Riara University.
Mr. Ndegwa, who is currently pursuing his PhD Degree in marketing at the University of Nairobi, holds an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi and Bachelor of Education degree from Kenyatta University. He also holds an Advanced Management Program Certificate from Strathmore University, 2008. Mr. Ndegwa has attended several local and international courses in Management, Leadership and Marketing.
Mr. Peter Mungai
Mr. Peter Mungai is currently the Managing Partner/Senior Consultant, Dan & Anderson Associates. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (K) with over 27 years’ experience in finance and accounting. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Leadership and Management at the Management University of Africa. He sits on various boards including, being the Chairman, KIM Board of Finance and Council member KIM, Chairman, Board of Governors Karigu-ini Secondary School, Maragua South, Member Managing Committee of Starehe Boys Centre, Chairman, Limuru Country & Golf Club and Chairman, New-Dawn Investments Limited. He is a Member of KIM and Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Mr. Kenneth Kaunda
Mr. Kenneth Kaunda has close to 28 years’ experience in Human Resources Management, 23 of which have been gained in business strategy execution, organizational development, change management, talent acquisition and leadership development, and corporate governance. He has worked for global and regional companies, majority of whom are in the private sector. He was until June 2015, the General Manager, Human Resource Development at Kenya Airports Authority. He is a KIM Fellow, Fellow and a Pioneer Member of the Institute of Human Resources Management (IHRM), Member of the Institute of Directors, Member of Airports Council International (ACI) and an ex-Chair of the Committee of Experts for Africa. His most recent assignment was his appointment by Aviation Professionals to take a lead role in the development and implementation of a harmonized professional qualification for the aviation sector. He is currently a Director and Board Member at Sheer logic Management Consultants based in Nairobi.
Mr. Clement Nyandiere
Mr. Clement Nyandiere has over 10 years’ at the Parliament of Kenya, currently as the Director General, Parliamentary Joint Services since October 2012. He oversees shared services between the National Assembly and the Senate. Before then, he was Parliament’s Director of Research, Information and Technology Services. During his tenure, he has been involved in implementation of institutional development projects both physical and human aimed at enhancing service delivery at the Parliament. In the past five years, he has been involved in advising a number of county assemblies in strategic planning and human resources management. Prior to joining the Parliament, Clement served at Strathmore University as Dean, Faculty of Information Technology. He also served as a lecturer of information systems and management for over ten (10) years. He is a Council member of the Kenya Institute of Management and Chairs the Audit, Risk and Governance Committee of the KIM Council. He is also a member of the Computer Society of Kenya.
Mr. Mbarak Said Twahir
Mr. Mbarak Twahir is a Commissioner with the Teachers Service Commission. His responsibilities include contributing to policy making as one of the nine commissioners, provide advice, direction and oversight to the Secretariat according to the Constitution and the law. At the Commission, Twahir is also the Chairman of the Strategy and Innovation Committee and a member of the Finance committee. Before his current position, Twahir was the Director, Performance Management at the Ministry of Devolution and Planning. He has 37 years’ experience in the field of education in public service working in various ministries and in different capacities. He is a member of the KIM Governing Council as well as a KIM Fellow.
Dr. Robert K. Egessa, PhD
Dr. Robert Egessa is a Senior Lecturer, Strategy and Human Resource Management at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). He has over 10 years’ experience in the field of education and administration, having worked at various training Institutions and Universities and served in various task forces and technical committees. He is a Member of Human Resource Management Professional Examination Board, Kenya. He has also executed several consultancy assignments and published widely. He is currently the Chairman, KIM, Kakamega Branch.
Dr. Thomas Serem, PhD
Dr. Thomas Serem is the Registrar (Administration), Egerton University where he has worked for 31 years in different capacities, mainly in the area of administration. He has also served in several University Committees as a Chair and Member. He is a member of KIM, IHRM, and IOD. He is currently the Chair of KIM, Nakuru Branch and a member of the KIM Governing Council. He also serves on several school boards. He is a committee member of FKE, Rift Valley Branch.
Ms Rose Detho
Ms Rose Detho is the Director, Strategic Management Department, Central Bank of Kenya, since April 2014. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree, both from the University of Nairobi. She has previously served as Director, Bank Supervision Department, CBK (2007-2009), and Director, Deposit Protection Fund Board (2009-2014).
Ms Detho also served in the Board of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) as an Alternate Member to the Governor for eight years until April 2016; as Council Member to and Treasurer of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI), between 2009 and 2014; and as Statutory Manager in resolving problems in some banks in Kenya in various periods. Ms Detho serves on the Board of the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) as an Alternate Member to the Governor. She is a member of the Kenya Institute of Bankers, a Fellow of the Kenya Institute of Management, and a member of the Nairobi Hospice.
Canon Charles Komu
Canon Charles Komu is the Regional Operations Manager at KTDA, an agency he has served for 33 years in various leadership capacities and locations. He holds an MBA in Strategic Management, a Bachelors in Business Administration and KIM Diploma in Business Management among other qualifications. He is currently undertaking a PhD in Business management at JKUAT. He is the Chair of KIM Embu Branch and a member of the KIM Governing Council.
Eng. George Muyera
Eng. George Muyera is the CEO and Chief Consultant with Sten–Co Construction and Engineering Services Limited. He has over 35 years’ experience in the field of construction, having worked for 20 years with Mugoya Construction Company as a Project Manager and Engineer overseeing projects locally and in the region. He is a Senior Rotarian and is currently the County Vice-Chair. He sits on several boards. He is currently the Chair of KIM Kisumu Branch and a member of the KIM Governing Council.
Mr. Hosea Kili, OGW
Mr. Hosea Kili is the Group Managing Director and CEO of CPF Financial Services Ltd. He has a wealth of experience in governance and leadership developed over a period of more than 20 years; having served in key management positions in several organizations. He has also served as Chairman of the East & Central Africa Social Security Association (ECASSA) and Institutional Consultants Ltd (ICL). He is currently the Chairman of the Association of Pensions Administrators of Kenya (APAK).
A visionary leader, Mr. Kili was awarded the Presidential Order of Grand Warrior of Kenya (OGW) in December 2011. He has also been recognized and awarded on numerous occasions for his leadership achievements, including being the runners up CEO of the year in 2013 at the Company of the Year (COYA) Awards. Mr. Kili is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and an active member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). He is a fellow of ICPSK and a member of the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Branch). He is also a Non-Executive Director at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
